Disco horror! Generally, vanity projects come off as embarrassing and entitled, but in the case of 1979's Nocturna: Granddaughter of Dracula the result is quite charming, if not inspirational. The brainchild of Nai Bonet, a Vietnamese belly-dancer who was having a hard time breaking into Hollywood, so she decided to write and produce a movie to show off her acting and dancing. And what better vehicle than a cheerfully silly disco vampire horror-comedy? Nocturna also features a stellar cast of supporting horror players: Yvonne De Carlo (The Munsters), Brother Theodore (The Burbs), and John Carradine goofing on his famous Count Dracula performances from the Universal Monsters days.
