One of our most jam-packed, well-attended episodes (which originally aired in Feb 2021) is BACK. “Wild in the Streets: L.A. Punk on Fire” is feature-length edit on a subject near to our hearts. As Bret explains:
“When punk rock first happened, it scared the living shit out of people. Back then, my hometown of Los Angeles was home to one of the most unparalleled underground scenes the world over, exploding daily with new ideas—while provoking violent blowback from parents, preachers, and especially the LAPD.
“Wild In The Streets: L.A. Punk On Fire” crawls into the muck with the local weirdos, junkies, outlaws that wove the tapestry of this bugout. Plenty of barely-seen performance footage from your faves, along with much "get off my lawn!" news coverage—and some beautifully inexplicable moments I can’t describe properly.
Our guest: Lisa Fancher of Frontier Records, one of L.A.’s most impactful indie labels. She’s released crucial albums by The Circle Jerks, Adolescents, T.S.O.L., Suicidal Tendencies, Christian Death, and even Elliot Smith’s early band Heatmiser. A SoCal native herself, Lisa’s had a front-row seat to our punk legacy from its inception. I recently sat down with her for an in-depth chat about her career, and it’s my honor to present highlights from that Zoom throughout the episode.”
