One of the most fascinating chapters of the OG L.A. punk era, captured in a superlative recent PBS documentary crammed with tasty footage and photos. A stone’s throw from each other in the same Chinatown plaza, Madame Wong’s and the Hong Kong Cafe were the joint epicenter of total awesomeness. The intense rivalry between these two clubs in ‘79-‘81 is the stuff of legend.
