A big dose of ambiguous bohemian warmth! From the late 1980s up until after Y2K, the “Global Village Coffeehouse” aesthetic was a way for ad agencies and corporate America to snooker the average consumer into thinking their brands were environmentally friendly, somehow artisanal instead of being mass-produced, and mindful of community. Let’s revel in a big batch of TV spots that flaunted the aesthetic in service of fruit juices, online shopping, and piping hot soup from a drinkable can.
